The Australian author has created a lovely looking book. The Golden Age of Chess 18511886, a games collection,is now available. 540 pages, photos and 110 games with contemporary notes. A golden era has to be nineteenth century chess, and this book contains the brilliant games of Anderssen, Morphy, Steinitz, Zukertort, Chigorin, Mackenzie, Winawer, amongst others.

Included are all twenty games from the first World Championship between Steinitz and Zukertort in 1886, and there is also an Appendix giving ten of Steinitz,s later games, played after he became World Champion.
